CANCER AND ITS DECANATES

Not all natives of the same sun sign can be characterized as a unit by the general characteristics of that sign. There are some divisions and subdivisions, each with its characteristics who give much more particular personality traits to the native of a sign. The most important division is the decanate. Among the 30 degrees of each sun sign, each decanate of the three has 10 degrees.

Decanate 1 -

• Degrees 1-10 of Cancer, corresponding to the period June 21st - July 1st.

• Characterization: Dominated by the Moon and rules by the goddess Venus, the native of this decanate has an emphatic, sensual, and affectionate side. He takes advantage of that in order to justify his infidelity and whim which he cannot understand either. He lacks in tactfulness, because he interrupts discussions or he considers his collocutors ridiculous, without being aware of how ridiculous he really is.
• Tree zodiac:
  Birch-tree - for a single day, at the summer-solstice; it is epitomized by the following key words: creative skills, stylish, elegant, sober, faithful in love, intelligent, inventive, but unsociable; study-oriented; he cannot tell a lie. 
  Apple-tree - key words: love, tenderness; sentimental, loving, too generous, study-oriented, party-man; he likes complications, he seizes the day. 
• Karmic: Now, he tests his power of seduction because he lacked in that, during his former incarnations. 

Decanate 2 -

• Degrees 11-20 of Cancer, corresponding to the period July 2nd - 12th. 
• Rulers: the Moon as ruler of Cancer and Mercury as specific ruler of the decanate. 
• Constellation: Hydra
  Key word: revelation
• Characterization: He is sentimental, but  too sensual. He is a skilled artist, he studies any gesture he makes and any mood he has in order to impress people. He is very exacting with himself and with other people. He is ironical when he becomes aware of other people's flaws; if the person is equal to him, he tries to hide his flaws behind very good jokes. 
• Tree zodiac: Fir-tree, characterized by key words: mystical, fashionable, noble character, difficult, whimsical, selfish, too serious, and ambitious.
• Karmic: His main goal is to live and experience art and the bohemian life of the artists. 

Decanate 3 -

• Degrees 21-30 of Cancer, corresponding to the period July 13th - 22th.
• Rulers: the Moon as ruler of Cancer and as specific ruler of the decanate.  
• Constellation: Argo
  Key word:  research
• Characterization: Because of the double influence of the Moon, he is extremely nice and sensitive but in the same time, he might be susceptible, self-oriented, and bragging. It is the most representative type of Cancer natives - he does not live "with his feet on the ground". He sometimes misses opportunities and his luck is ephemere.  
• Tree zodiac: Elm-tree, characterized by key words: calm, patience, moral values; honest, he confides in other people; duty; leader but also submissive, patriot; he fulfils his desires. 
• Karmic: He must learn two important and difficult lessons: the first is about his family - he must sacrifice for the well being of it, the second is concerned with his innocence - "he wants to have a place in Heaven".
